Hi! I wanna cry so bad because I just finished translating the first chapter of “Applaud for Happiness”. Will you also let me continue translate and share my own version on novel updates? If not, will you atleast let me share my chapter 1? I am asking you because I don’t want to appear rude.

I understand completely. I was building up a stockpile of chapters for ‘I have a ‘System’ halo’ only for someone to post their translation just days before me. I don’t blame the other translator since there was no way for them to know, but it still stung for all that work to be wasted.
I know it sucks to realize something like this happened.
I don’t mind if you share your first chapter since it’s already done, however I’d appreciate if you didn’t translate beyond that. When I’ve finished translating all 111 chapters of Applaud for Happiness, you can do your own version, but that might mean a longer wait than you’d be comfortable with, so perhaps until then you’ll want to adopt a different project.
I do want to tell you that I appreciate you leaving a message. I feel really bad for you because the same thing happened to me with ‘I have a System halo’, and then I switched to Applaud for Happiness.
If you’re looking for something to translate instead, may I recommend Pixiu Rearing Guide? It’s a BL with only 6 chapters translated and the last translated chapter came out in 2018. It’s a really great story that deserves more attention, and I was planning on translating it once I’m done with Applaud for Happiness unless someone else took on the project first. It’s a really great story. It is complete at 108 chapters, making it slightly shorter than Applaud for Happiness.
Waaahh so glad TuT. But while I was eating awhile ago, I was brainstorming on “what should I do if they don’t agree?” Anddd I actually come up with: continue translating up until i finish the first arc. Then after that I’ll find another story to translate. Don’t worry I won’t post it on NU anymore, not even the first chapter nor after you finish translating the whole novel.
I think I was just too disheartened awhile ago that I impulsively sent that message.(｡ﾉω＼｡)

Also, I’m sooo thankful that you suggested a novel. I will seriously consider it and I will update you of my response once I’m done reading the first arc of AFH. That’s if nobody is still not translating it.
I am looking forward for your whole translation of this novel and I’m so glad that u decided to translate it since I’ve really like to read it for a long time now, but I can’t stand reading in MTL that I actually started translating it myself. Really, I should be thankful that someone is actually translating it. Not whine because my effort was wasted. ಠ◡ಠ

I can definitively understand why you’d have been frustrated at first. Spending time translating a chapter only for someone else to post first is annoying. I’ll do my best to write a quality translation of AFH and make you proud. 🙂
The next update will take a while as I’m still building up my stockpile, but I do want to have finished the stock and be posting chapter 2 in less than 30 days.

Excuse me, but I’ve noticed you’ve started posting your translations on NovelUpdates despite me clearly stating that while I give you permission for 1 chapter since you’ve done it already, I do not give you permission to translate any further as I’ve taken on this project. You stated that you would not post anything and would chose another project.
I’ve been working very hard these past weeks to build up a stockpile of chapters and I would appreciate if you kept your word and take down those links to chapters 1 and 2.
As stated before, I do not want to compete with another translator for one project. Additionally, the site rules state that you must wait a certain amount of time before you can take over a project, and that amount of time has not passed.
Seshy, someone uploaded my translation on NU. I swear that it was not me. I already reported it to the administrator. I’m so sorry with this. And I’m hoping that it would be solved even before 24 hours.

It is my translation and I was not the one who released it. And prior before this, seshy(the first one who released it) and I already had an agreement that I wouldn’t post my translation on NU. I really respect their translation and I don’t want to break their trust on me.
Please help me. Thank you so much.
And I’m so sorry with this, I also have no idea how to use NU since I’m just a newbie translator. If possible, could my group “thisgirltranslates” be removed?

Then I am very sorry for being so rude in my message. I was very hurt because I believed you were going back on your promise, and felt betrayed because I’d worked hard on translating the next 10 chapters so that I could surprise readers with quick updates as soon as I am done.
I am glad to hear you had nothing to do with this. I had edited my 1st chapter’s Translator’s Note to say that I was aware that someone else had posted their links and it was done without permission. I will edit that to make it clear you are not at fault, and as soon as the links are gone, I’ll edit out the message entirely. I’m not familiar with Wattpad, but is there a way for you to add a personal note at the end of your first chapter to say that you don’t want anyone linking your translation to NovelUpdates, as someone else is currently translating the project? That way this won’t happen again.
I’m sorry I was so harsh in my message. You didn’t deserve it. It was really reassuring to hear that you were not the one who posted those links. I’m sorry I doubted you.

I was quick to judge, but I’m not the kind of person who won’t admit my faults if I made an error in judgment. I’m thankful you went through so much effort to make things right.
Thank you for being so kind and helpful about all this. And you don’t need to stress about me thinking ill of you. I am only slightly annoyed at whoever posted those links, but they couldn’t have known so they aren’t at fault either. Everyone acted with the best of intentions. I’m sure the person thought they were helping you in case you didn’t know how to post links on NU and weren’t aware of the 30-day rule.

Thank you for the explanation. I am reassured to hear you had nothing to do with this. This cleared things up and I have no harsh feelings over the issue. I’m sorry to have doubted you. Anybody can add links to NU, and I should have remembered that.
As I stated in my response sent just minutes ago to your first apology, if you could add a personal translator’s note at the end of chapter 1 asking people not to post links on NovelUpdates because another group is translating the project, then that would be appreciated. Hopefully that should prevent such a thing from happening again.
